How To Use Facebook For Network Marketing Success (Part 1)
Facebook is a great tool for business IF you know how to attract your visitors to follow you and not turn them away!
I love using Facebook to meet other network marketers , share marketing strategies, build relationships, and ultimately have my followers join me in business. Your Facebook profile is a major part of letting other know who you are and what value you can offer. When I first started network marketing I would friend anybody and everybody just to get followers. Now I do things a bit differently.
If someone came up to you on the street with a brown bag over their head would you accept their friendship?
The awnser to the above question is pretty obvious. Instead of saying let’s be friends you’d probably run the other direction. What does this have to do with a Facebook profile? I’m about to tell you… but first I want to explain how I find people who are interested in the same niche or topics and I then we will go into what to have in your profile to ensure the people you contact friend you.
How to Find Network Marketers With the Same Interest.
I use Facebook groups to find people I want to connect with. I will use the search bar at the top of Facebook to search for a group of my interest. For Example… Network Marketing.
After typing in the type of group you want to search for you’ll come to the following screen where you will want to click “Groups.”
Then you can choose the Facebook group you want to join and find new contacts in.
The first thing to look for when choosing a new connection.
This is where the brown bag comes. I want to look for someone with a great picture. I turn away from the network marketers who use a company logo or a google image as a profile picture. I like to put a name to the face so to speak. After I find someone with a nice photo of them or their family then I check out their profile.
What to look for in a profile page.
I have listed here some of the main things to look for when viewing a profile. You will find a visual of this below.
1. A current employment- If you click this it should take you to another page of the network marketer, business opportunity page, or it may be where they currently work (as in this example).
2. Basic Information should be complete – You should see their interests and more importantly a good biography within the “About Me” section. This should tell you a bit more about the person and what value they can offer you. Ideally this will also include a link to their blog. If this section isn’t full (as in this example), this is a network marketer who needs help with knowing how to brand themselves. A problem I can solve.
3. The Contact Information – This should be complete as well. It should include a phone number, an instant message location (ex. skype), and at least 2 websites you can visit to discover more about them or the opportunity they offer. If they haven’t listed any websites that tells me they are possibly looking for a company to join or are struggling in their current opportunity and not sure really how to promote promote. Both are problems I can solve.
This concludes Part 1 of How To Use Facebook For Network Marketing Success. In part 2 I will describe and illustrate the process I use to start building the relationship.

Excellent post Margaret. Finding the right type of people to connect with on Facebook is a process. Most people will just mass submit friend requests to anybody and they tend to get banned. I enjoyed how you laid out your process. You whet my appetite for more. Can’t wait for part 2.

Hi Margaret,
That was a great explanation of how to find people to connect with on Facebook. Whenever I share with people how to do this I’m still amazed at the number of people who just don’t know how to find people on Facebook.
I think with their constant changes it’s hard sometimes to figure everything out. I appreciate the time you took to put this post together for us.
I’ll look forward to your next one pertaining to building relationships. That’s my favorite part.
Thank you again and enjoy your week.

Thanks. Seems like everyone is liking the graphics. I’ll keep it up and maybe include a final video in the last post of the series!
Great lessons on finding friends on Facebook. I’m always so careful when I do this. I like quality, not quantity.
If they don’t provide enough information, I do not friend them. I cannot believe how many people do this.
On the other hand, those that are serious business people will provide the info you need to make a connection.
Thanks, Donna

Treat Facebook as you would any connecting medium. Be a friend to make friends. Personalize connections. Help people by creating valuable content and answering questions. Awesome tips here.
Be transparent. Open up. Share your story. Reach out to and connect with like-minded folks. Grow your network and prosper.

Hi Margaret,
There one point that you mentioned that I absolutely agree with – we do not friend every tom dick or harry that we meet on the road, so the same should be with choosing how to be friends with on Facebook.
